The Doulou & Smillie Rise & Shine Breakfast Show
Chris Doulou started DJing in 1988 and used to listen to Centreforce when it first started. In 2000, he played his first radio sets on Shine FM pirate radio station playing old school, house and hardcore music for 10 years.
During his Shine FM years, he performed at big events such as Ministry of sound, Sunshine Daze and he became resident with Bobby and Steve presents at Herbal night club for over a year, resident at The Bar in Gants Hill for over a year and also at Gios Bar in Chingford for over a year. He also played at SE1 club, played for Epidemic at the 338 club and many more known clubs in the south/east of London.
In 2006 he had his back waxed live on stage at Scarla in Kings Cross to start up the charity ‘Dance Aid’ with Wayne Eldridge and Mete and went on to perform beside many big names at Dance Aid events such as Slipmatt, Groove Rider, Fabio, DJ Hype and many more, also holding a Guinness World Record for DJing. Unfortunately after 10 years Shine FM came to an end and I later moved on to Freshsounds radio station for 6 months and also played on Vision FM. Chris joined Centreforce and is on the Saturday breakfast show with Rob Smillie.
Rob is old school and was there from the beginning. The Hackney born DJ first started attending soul and rave groove nights at an early age in the local warehouses. They soon switched to the Chicago house sound and the DJ bug took hold.
After a few years of house parties, Smillie took a different route and DJ’d abroad on the summer seasons, holding down residences in Limassol, Faliraki and Magaluf and was no stranger to the radio scene either.
With over twenty years of experience with various underground stations such as Freeze, Flava, Smoove, Chillin and Origin, Rob Smillie plays a prestigious mix of Acid House, old skool and dance classics, hardcore/rave, UK Garage, soul and hip hop classics.
